TEENSTOCK 2012 REPORT
The third annual, TEENSTOCK 2012 “Kids Helping Kids” benefiting Big Brothers
Big Sisters was a great success from the standpoint of talent that took the stage on Saturday March 24. Virtual Volume the band that started it all three years ago, Zero Gravity, Grounded 4 Life, Tri Phi, Alexandria
Hand, Sophie Robitaille, and Haley Schroeder all possess talent beyond their young ages.
It was evident that these kids worked hard to prepare for this show and it was a true pleasure to be in the audience
watching and listening. The kids were involved in TEENSTOCK right from the start. They attended meetings, helped with fundraising, and volunteered beyond performing
on the day of the event. Each one had an assigned task and they took their assignment
very seriously to make the day a success. The weather looked ominous, but the
line of showers advancing parted to spare us for a great afternoon of music and fun.
The highlight of the day was when a concert attendee gave Zero Gravity a tip at the
end of their set. A very excited Alexandria Hand and her fellow band members
came up to me to show me the $100 bill they had received. Without hesitation,
Alex announced that Zero Gravity wanted to donate the money to Big Brothers Big Sisters.
The generosity of a single fan and an entire band of kids deeply touched Big Brother Tom, and Big Sister Sheri Chancey,
there with their Little Brother Ricky and Little Sister Star.
The Nature Coast Friends of Blues as host of the event sends a big thank you to the
small businesses that supported the “Kids Helping Kids” effort to raise money for Big Brothers Big Sisters. They include Conner’s Gifts, Van Allen Insurance Agency, Christine Schroeder,
Ellie Schiller Homosassa Springs Wildlife State Park, Neon Leon’s Zydeco Steakhouse, Sea Tow at Mac Rae’s, Rock
Crusher Canyon RV Park, New Concepts International Hair Salon, The Garden Shed, KG Bridal and Gifts, Kevin Holdren, Sunshine
Pewter, Crystal River Bear Factory and Chelle’s Scents. We also want to
thank author Jerri Acree for her kind donation to Big Brother Big Sisters from proceeds of the sale of her book, “Life
Behind the Freezer Door” from her “Go for the Green” series. Collectively
your generosity brought added success to our day.
This day allowed the light to shine on the kids in our community who are doing the
right thing. They have parents who support their desire to learn music. If you missed the event this year, TEENSTOCK “Kids Helping Kids” is an
annual event that is well worth your support next year.
Blues'n Bar-B-Que Thanks
Many thanks go to all the fans that came out
to Blues'n Bar-B-Que. We had a record crowd, great music, good food and more. Thank you to those who participated in the 50/25/25 to help member Eve Shaw who is
undergoing treatment for breast cancer. She and her husband, Neil are musicians, have no insurance and are profoundly thankful
to everyone for their support in helping them get through this.
We were happy to unveil our new Blues'n Bar-B-Que
logo honoring Jim (Boe) Anderson who is the reason we host Blues’n Bar-B-Que each year.
Boe started the event in 1995 and he owns the location where all Nature Coast Friends of Blues events take place. This in part is why we can bring such high quality entertainment in because we do
not have to rent a place to hold our events.
Thank you to all of our sponsors who donated
to the success of the day and our ability to give back to the community. We are
still counting numbers and soon we will be donating to Hospice of Citrus County Camp Good Hope and Teen Encounter. We have a banner listing all of our sponsors for 2011-2012 that will hang at each of our Live Music Series
events in 2012 showing continuing thanks for your support.
Our MC, Jim Davis did an amazing job of thanking
sponsors during the event. He highlighted each business in detail so people got
a true sense that the small business community is alive and well in Citrus County.
Welcome to the new members who joined at Blues’n
Bar-B-Que. We hope to see you at Live Music Series shows in 2012. Thank you for showing your support of what we do.
We could not have had the success we did without
all of our wonderful volunteers. Everyone did an outstanding job! Thank you all so much for your hard work, attention to detail and willingness to help.
Please be sure to visit our

businesses who support the Nature Coast Friends of Blues. We are very thankful to the community for embrasing our mission

Our History
The Nature Coast Friends of Blues, Inc formed in
2007 after Jim Anderson, owner of the Olde Mill House Gallery and Printing Museum and event organizer of the Blues ‘n
Bar-B-Que called it quits. First time attendee Susan Mitchell saw the need to
keep this event alive so, after a few phone calls Jim set up an impromptu Saturday blues jam session in the Garden behind
the Museum Café. By that afternoon, a group of volunteers signed up to help get
the association off the ground. Local attorney, John Clardy helped us get our
non-profit corporation status. Our success in 2007 allowed us to donate $500
to the Key Training Center and a group of our volunteers provided help for their main fundraiser, “Run for the Money”
in 2008. In 2009, we donated $1000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus County
and in 2010, our first Annual TEENSTOCK generated $700 for Big Brothers Big Sisters. Also, in 2010, we earned our 501 (c)
3 non-profit status. Following the 2010 Blues’n Bar-B-Que, we donated $1000
to Camp E Nini Hassee in Floral City. Our 2011 beneficiary for Blues’n
Bar-B-Que is Hospice’s Camp Good Hope/Teen Encounter for children dealing with the loss of a loved family member or
friend.
